Swim Lesson Skill Levels

Once registered, your child will have an in-pool assessment and be placed in the proper animal skill level group.

 
  • Water Babies (6mths - 3 years) and Preschool (3 to 4 years) are programs instructed in water with parent(s)/guardian(s) participation. You and your child will learn and experience introductory water skills with the incorporation of both safety and fun. The goal of this program is for both parent and child to become comfortable in the pool together! Skills such as proper holding positions, underwater exploration, introductory kicks and floats, and engagement of arm movement will be taught. The instructor will be Lifeguard certified and have experience in teaching key swim skills while promoting both safety and fun! We recommend bringing a towel, bathing suits and swim diapers required.

    Our Preschool course acts as a bridge program that will help your child transition from Waterbabies to our group swim lesson program.

  • This course is an intro to independent swimming. It will follow the progressions of water safety and exposure from our water babies program in a class setting. Goals of this course: Comfortability with entering and exiting the water, submersion and subsequent breath holding, water positioning, and the ability to float on one's back.

  • Continuing swim knowledge/safety/ beginning basic stroke development. Goals of this course: Gliding while on back and front, independent bopping, using a kickboard, and beginning to learn arm stroke technique.

  • Introduction to strokes and stroke techniques. Goals of this course: Begin to learn the ingredients to freestyle and backstroke, learn how to roll onto back for a recovery breath, and explore underwater swimming.

  • Begin to refine the movement of arms and legs during strokes. Goals of this course: Learn to Tread Water for 15 seconds, master the art of rotary breathing for freestyle, and introduction to butterfly and breaststroke kicks.

  • This course introduces full pool length swimming and wall turning. Goals of this course: Complete a 25 yrd freestyle and backstroke, introduction to headfirst entry into the water, introduction to open turning on walls, and the completion of a 1 minute water tread

  • This course puts it all together, each child should be able to swim the full length of the pool for every stroke and be able to dive before graduation of course. Goals of this course: Complete a 50 yrd freestyle and backstroke, complete a 25 yrd butterfly and breaststroke, shallow angle diving and glides, and tread water for 2 minutes.Item description

  • The Marlins Swim Club acts as an introduction to swim team swimming abilities and skills. If your child is interested in the swim team, but not quite ready for competition, this class is for you! Learn more
